Before signing an employment contract, there are important things to consider.

In this country, every job must be registered and legally secured with an employment contract. An employment contract usually contains information such as the description of the activity, the work to be carried out within the scope of the activity, the weekly working time, salary, holiday entitlement, etc. The employment contract must be signed by the employer and the employee. There may also be a job description for your new job that contains details of your job, your supervisor and subordinates, as well as specific activities.

In most cases, a job may only be officially started after receipt and, if necessary, review of the employment contract. Therefore, you should always read an employment contract very carefully and discuss any ambiguities with your new employer. There are offers to have employment contracts examined individually, e.g. by employee associations, trade unions and legal expenses insurers.

In addition to the individual contracts with the individual employees, some large companies have also concluded so-called "shell contracts" with trade unions, employers' liability insurance associations or the works council, for example. If reference is made to these basic agreements in the employment contract, they must also be handed over to you in writing.

The employment contract is the legal basis for any professional employment. Only things that are included in the employment contract or, if applicable, in signed supplements are relevant, e.g. before the labour court.
