Personal assistance
There are many ways to support working parents. A very good support is the one from the employer directly. This gives you as an employee an appreciation for your good work. Working parents also receive respect for their family responsibilities.
As direct support, some companies already have the concept of day care in the company. Parents can place their children in qualified hands and concentrate fully on their work. There are other possibilities for personal support. Among other things, day care is possible through a day care centre or a childminder. However, it is not only possible and important to care for the child during or after working hours. Possible external help is, for example, the support from a domestic help. You can get good advice in all situations from the local youth welfare offices.
If you are helped out at home, it will make your everyday life easier. The concentration on individual activities increases again. This not only affects your family, but also your performance at work. Therefore, support from the employer is useful and important.
Questions and answers
Que fait un service externe de soins palliatifs pour les enfants et les adolescents ?
The Ambulante Kinder und Jugendhospizdient Dresden accompanies and supports children and young people with life-shortening illnesses and their parents and siblings. Volunteers are available to support the affected family in their home environment for a long time, often for years. They listen, go for walks with the children, play and thus create freedom for the parents.
Counselling and support are free of charge for the families concerned. We are active in Dresden and up to 50 kilometres in the surrounding area.
How do you find qualified childcare and what do you have to pay attention to?
The most important thing is that you as parents have a good feeling about caring for your child. What you as parents should pay attention to when choosing childcare: Group rooms, outdoor area, group size, number of groups and educators, age composition of the children, educational goals, daytime arrangements, food, atmosphere and care times.
Do I have to register a domestic help?
Yes - your domestic help is employed by you because of the obligation to give instructions, which usually always exists. As an employer, you are liable for the statutory social insurance contributions, which is why you must always register your domestic help for social insurance, even in the case of a so-called mini-job or midi-job. A household help registered in this respect is then also protected against accidents at work by the statutory accident insurance in particular, and you as an employer are therefore usually exempt from the obligation to pay compensation or compensation for pain and suffering in the event of accidents at work. If, on the other hand, you do not lawfully register your salaried domestic help with the social insurance, you are threatened with criminal sanctions (undeclared work) in addition to considerable additional contribution claims. Even in the case of accidents at work, you would then have to pay damages and compensation for pain and suffering to your domestic help yourself. If you have any questions about registering for social security, it is best to contact a qualified lawyer's or tax consultant's office.
Is a domestic helper liable for any damage they cause to the furnishings?
Domestic help is not automatically insured against damage caused in connection with the performance of the mini-job. Private liability insurance does not cover such damage. Rather, a so-called professional liability insurance could be taken out for damage caused by the minijob. However, since professional indemnity insurance taken out voluntarily is generally not inexpensive, case law has developed the principles of so-called "employee liability". In the case of slight negligence, employees are therefore generally not liable for the damage they cause during their work. In the case of moderate negligence, according to case law, liability may amount to a maximum of approx. 1 to 3 gross monthly salaries - provided that the damage caused by the employee is so high. In the case of gross negligence and intent, the employee is fully liable for the damage caused.
