People who confronted with the end of life by age or illness often need support and advocacy. Family, friends or professional care facilities and hospices can help. An open conversation about the wishes are particularly important for those who are close to the patient or older people. In case of doubt, you must make decisions about the patient's will and/or pension authorization. This can also lead, for example, to a judicial arrangement of a caregiver in people with dementia. He takes care of all the tasks that the subject can no longer do himself.

Questions and answers

Who will help me deal with my loss?

The grieving process can take several years. Helpfully, a conversation with a trusted person can be or keep a diary privately. In many cities, there are bereavement groups that offer an exchange with those affected. Bereavement centres support with professional consultations.

A death companion visits the seriously ill or elderly at home, in the hospital, nursing home or hospice. They are having conversations, trying to take away fears, and are reliably there for those affected.
