At some point in their lives, people ask themselves whether they want to start a family or not. But above all, it is often difficult to shape one's own career and compatibility with this goal. So at least the general thought. Nobody has to give up their career goals or stay away from work for several months. Family planning also works including careers. But there is also the case that you have unintentionally become pregnant and are now faced with the decision of what to do now. For both ways there are solutions and help from different places.

Important for the right planning is to ask yourself the right questions right from the start. We give you help to ask this question correctly for you and to arrange the planning after your life.

Many pregnancies are not planned, some are unintentional. If you are pregnant and do not know what to do or are considering aborting your pregnancy, there is a wide range of pregnancy counselling centres. With the knowledge that I am pregnant, many things then collapse on you. In this difficult situation you are entitled to support and advice. But not only the decision for a child influences the work, also the decision against it. Because here, too, there are health aspects to consider.

Questions and answers

I'm unplannedly pregnant. Which possibilities of help do I have?

First of all, the most important thing is not to be put under pressure. Take a deep breath and then go into yourself. Because the first question is now quite clear. Should I keep the child or abort it? If it is possible, you should first talk to the expectant father. If you have reached an agreement or decide alone and have made the decision, there are further questions that now have to be answered.

First of all, it is advisable to take a closer look at your environment. But if you do not want to talk to your family or friends about the pregnancy, there are numerous pregnancy conflict counselling centres. The counsellors will discuss your life situation with you individually. As mediators, they help you with difficult conversations and have tips and advice on your living situation or financial support.

If you are considering an abortion, you are obliged to seek advice from a recognised pregnancy conflict counselling centre. The counselling interview is an offer to talk about the reasons that lead you to terminate your pregnancy.

However, there is not only the possibility of an abortion, but also that of a foster family or even an adoption by a third party.

In a personal conversation at a pregnancy conflict counselling centre, the counsellors try to clarify the situation with you. If you wish, you can also bring your partner or other persons with you for counselling.

There is no legal obligation to report it to the employer. Ask for help at the counselling centres. Depending on your life situation and decision, they will be happy to give you advice or help you with difficult conversations.
