The administrative district Zwickau is an administrative district in the west of Saxony. It is the smallest district in the Free State. The administrative seat of the district is the district town of Zwickau. The region offers a multitude of sights. These include castles, recreational areas as well as art collections and museums. Historically, the region has been influenced by mining since the early 20th century. The economic life was determined above all also by the automobile construction among other things with the production of the brands Trabant and today VW. In addition to automotive engineering, logistics, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering are also economically predominant in the Zwickau district today.
