The Vogtlandkreis is a district in the southwest of the Free State of Saxony. The district town is the city of Plauen. The Vogtlandkreis lies in the Saxon Vogtland and is characterized in large parts by a low mountain range landscape. In addition to the bathing establishments in the health resorts of Bad Elster and Bad Brambach, the manufacture of musical instruments in the so-called Musikwinkel and tourism - especially winter sports - play an important economic role. In the Plauen area, the textile industry, especially the Plauen lace, printing press construction and the vehicle industry with a focus on buses, is also of importance.
