Accessibility statement

Physical disability

A body disability can stand due to illness, as a birth defect or loss of a body part due to accident or amputation. Especially in old age, many physical disabilities can affect older people as a loss of vital abilities.

People with a physical disability often need support due to their limited mobility. This can also affect everyday activities such as eating, washing or dressing. To support mobility, there are many technical aids such as wheelchairs, walking aids, prostheses or others. People with recognised disabilities also receive many opportunities for financial assistance. Aids such as the wheelchair are often paid for by the health insurance companies as part of a fixed flat-rate fee. For example, you can also apply for a tax reduction on motor vehicles.

Ensuring accessibility has become increasingly important in recent years, not least because it is required by law. In order for accessibility to be successfully implemented, there is a lot of financial relief, e.g. for structural measures such as bathroom conversions. This helps people with disabilities to gradually obtain the rights they are legally guaranteed.

Unfortunately, the participation of people with physical disabilities in society is currently still severely restricted by a large number of physical barriers with which physically disabled people are confronted. This makes everyday things and participation difficult or impossible - be it getting on the train, climbing stairs, operating household appliances, working at workplaces or visiting a toilet.

If these barriers are gradually minimised, people with disabilities will be able to participate step by step, as they are entitled to as human rights. For example, the law requires that public buildings also provide easy access for people with disabilities. Unfortunately, this has not yet been implemented everywhere.
